i am many things, and thats okay
— Laura Nyahuye

As an artists, i function via three strands

I am many things, an embodiment of my faith, my roots, my heritage, and my everyday life,

Every strand of my work comes from my core.

I weave, create, and exhibit stories

To me, my practice is one big ever connected, living and breathing tapestry

Here is my practice explained in 3 strands…

Cultural identity - Migration – Belonging- Being woman - Heritage
an exploration of identity, migration, belonging, motherhood, and everyday lived experiences, via writing, storytelling, performance, public speaking, consultancy

Textiles – Fashion - Storytelling - Exhibitions
summoning my craft as a story-teller, my body of work echoes and weaves together stories, journeys and lived experiences , creating a rich palette and a tapestry of textures and perspectives. Each piece is an artefact embodying the voices, the ancestry and the daily lived realities of women

Social purpose
as an artist and a cultural leader, I work to create pathways for migrant communities. I have interest in social polices affecting migrant communities. I use my artistic skills, lived experience and learned knowledge to challenge perceptions and drive systemic change relating to culture, race, migration, women, asylum seekers, refugees, artists and young people from marginalised migrant communities
