founder and creative director

Laura is the founder and Creative Director of Maokwo – an organisation using art as a form of activism to bring about positive change. It advocates for better inclusion across the cultural sector, increasing the visibility of migrant artists and using its platform to influence policy and generate opportunities for underrepresented creatives working in visual and performing arts.

At the heart of Maokwo’s mission is a commitment to women, community engagement, championing unheard voices, minoritising artists, tackling discrimination, and creatively nurturing young creatives.
